So-called 'soft skills' (regulating emotions, self- control, responsible decision-making, showing empathy for others, etc.) are positively correlated to students' academicas well lifelong success.
Researchers at Duke University conducted a study of students participating in Fast Track, a program for youth that have been identified by their teachers and parents as high risk for developing aggressive behavioral problems. Their study revealed that soft skills, rather than academic skills, had a big impact on youth crime and delinquency rates.
